Biography
Victor Lebedev was born on December 14, 1924 in the village of Novoelovka (now the Talmensky district of the Altai Territory ). He graduated from seven classes of the school. In August 1943, Lebedev was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War. By September 1943, Junior Sergeant Viktor Lebedev was in command of the 218th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 77th Guards Rifle Division of the 61st Army of the Central Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On the night of September 26-27, 1943, Lebedev was one of the first to cross the Dnieper in the area of the village of Nedanchichi, Repki district, Chernihiv region of the Ukrainian SSR, and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore. Leading one of the reconnaissance groups, Lebedev stealthily approached enemy positions and threw grenades at them, forcing the enemy to withdraw. November 12, 1943 Lebedev died in battle in the Gomel region of the Belorussian SSR . He was buried in the village of Ruchaevka, Loevsky district [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of January 15, 1944, Junior Sergeant Viktor Lebedev was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union for "exemplary fulfillment of command missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism". He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and a medal [1] .
In honor of Lebedev, a monument was erected at the place of his death, a bust was erected and a school was named in the village of Novoperunovo in the Talmen region [1] .
