Biography

Born on August 15, 1920 in Borovsk (now Kaluga Region ). After graduating from high school and the Tambov flight school of the Civil Air Fleet, he worked as an instructor in the training squadron of civil aviation in Penza . In January 1942 he was drafted into the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War [1] .

Guard Lieutenant. A pilot of the 62nd Guards Separate Aviation Regiment of the 16th Air Army of the 1st Belorussian Front, by June 1944 had made 512 sorties to destroy important enemy targets in its deep rear, as well as to deliver important cargo and transport partisans, 172 of which - in the dark [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 19, 1944, for “exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, Lieutenant Boris Lakhtin was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under number 4374 [1] .

In 1947, the rank of lieutenant colonel was transferred to the reserve. He lived in the village of Vnukovo in the city ​​of Moscow . He worked as a civil aviation pilot. Died July 15, 1987 . He was buried at the Pykhtinsky cemetery in Moscow [1] .

He was awarded two orders of Lenin, orders of the Red Banner , World War 1 degree and the Red Star , two orders of the Badge of Honor, and a number of medals [1] .

Memory

In honor of Boris Lakhtin, the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft (registration number RA-89051) of Aeroflot Airlines was named [2] .

In May 2016, a memorial plaque was erected in Borovsk on Lenin Street in building No. 8, in which Boris Aleksandrovich Lakhtin lived. [3]
