Viaduct on the Kilmarnock - Trun railway.
- July 6 - The Kilmarnock – Trun Railway became the first public railway to open in Scotland . The line had a length of 16 kilometers with two tracks and a track of 1219 mm and worked on horse-drawn traction. The rail transported coal and was designed by [1] .
- August 12 - The , transporting coal to Leeds , England , became the first railway to use the steam locomotive on an ongoing basis, the Salamanca locomotive [2] .
