Flower

Geofit . Perennial herb 20-50 cm tall. The bulb is ovoid.

The stem is erect, with a rosette of three to four (six) linear, grooved, basal leaves up to 2 cm wide.

Inflorescence is an asymmetric bunch of 5-20 flowers, bracts are longer than pedicels . Flowers are up to 5 cm in diameter, bell-shaped, tepals 20-25 mm long, oblong-lanceolate, pointed, white inside, greenish outside, with a white border. Filaments broadly widened, at the edges with two teeth, which are equal to or greater than anthers in inner stamens and shorter in outer stamens . It blooms in April - May.

Fruits in June - July. Propagated by seeds and vegetatively [5] .

Distribution and habitat

It is found in Ukraine , Moldova , Central and Atlantic Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula and in Asia Minor , in Russia - only in the Rostov Region [6] and Crimea .

In Russia, the species is included in the Red Book of the Rostov Region [6] .

In Ukraine

Included in the Red Book of Ukraine and the Lugansk region, protected in the Dnieper-Orel, Lugansk, Ukrainian steppe PO, Black Sea, Danube reserves, NPP "Holy Mountains" , in landscape and botanical reserves [5] .
