Biography
Ivan Lapin was born on February 20, 1914 in the village of Chemskoye of the Gutovsky volost [1] in the south of the Tomsk district ( Tomsk province ) [2] . He graduated from the Pyatigorsk Engineering College. In 1935, Lapin was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1938, Lapin graduated from the Odessa Infantry School. Since 1941 - on the fronts of World War II [3] .
By September 1943, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Lapin commanded a battalion of the 569th Infantry Regiment of the 161st Infantry Division of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On September 23, 1943, the Lapin battalion successfully crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Zarubintsi, Kanevsky district, Cherkasy region of the Ukrainian SSR , captured and held a bridgehead on its western shore. In one of the battles, Lapin was injured, but continued to fight [3] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 23, 1943, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Lapin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [3] .
In 1944, with the rank of captain, Lapin was transferred to the reserve for wounds. He lived in Toguchin , worked as a sales manager for Toguchinsky woodworking plant. He died on November 5, 1979 [3] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner and a number of medals [3] .
A street in Toguchin was named in honor of Lapin [3] .
