Sistar ( 씨스 타 , often styled as SISTAR ) is a South Korean girl group formed in 2010 by Starship Entertainment. It consists of four participants: Khorin, Bora , Soyu and Das . [1] [2] [3] Their debut studio album So Cool was released on August 9, 2011. On June 11, 2013, the release of their second studio album, Give It to Me, was released . Their hit list includes the singles So Cool, Alone, Touch My Body, Loving U and Give It to Me. The fourth single, So Cool, was number one on the Korea K-Pop Hot 100 .

Career
2010–12: So Cool , Alone, and Loving U
Sistar began their group activity in early 2010, appearing in advertisements and photo shoots of various magazines. [4] Their official debut took place on June 3 with the single “Push Push”. [5] On June 4, they first performed at Music Bank , and the promotion continued until July 26. [6]
On August 25, the release of the second single, “Shady Girl,” took place. Super Junior member Kim Hitchhol starred in the video. [7] [8] The group received a lot of attention on social networks after the appearance of a fancam with “Let's Start Sharing Concert”, which took place on August 28. In the middle of the performance, Bora fell off the stage and broke her thumb. Other participants paused the recording in order to take her away with staff. A few minutes later, Bora returned to the stage and continued to perform. [9] [10]
On September 14, Sistar was invited to the Hallyu Japanese music festival as the only Korean female group. On October 10th, a performance in Thailand at the Teen Superstar show took place. In November, the third single, “How Dare You,” was released. [11] On December 9, the group won the Best Newcomer nomination at the Golden Disk Awards . December 27 was the first victory at Music Bank . [12]
On April 27, 2011, it became known that a sub-unit called Sistar19 will debut in Sistar, and it will include Khorin and Bora. [13] On May 3, the debut song “Ma Boy” was released. [14] A promotion for music shows was held during the month. [15] On August 9, Sistar returned with the album So Cool . [16] The single “So Cool” reached the pinnacle of Korea K-Pop Hot 100 . [17] On September 11, the first victory at Inkigayo was won. [18]
In April 2012, the broadcast of the So Cool Sistar showcase was reported in 41 countries. [19] Their first mini-album, Alone, was released on April 12 and contained six songs produced by Brave Brothers. [20] On June 28, Loving U's second mini-album was released. [21]
2013-15: Give It to Me , solo music and mini albums
On January 31, 2013, Sistar19 released their first mini-album, Gone Not Around Any Longer . [22] On May 16, Starship Entertainment announced the band's comeback in mid-June. June 3 appeared teasers Dasom and Bora. The next day, a common group teaser for the new album, called Give It to Me , was released, featuring a concept in the Moulin Rouge style. On June 6, a teaser for a single video of the same name was released. On June 11, the album was released on various music services; debuted on the fourth line of the Gaon Albums Chart . [23] On October 26, Sistar performed at the 2013 Asia Pacific Song Song Festival , which was held in Hanoi . [24] The songs “The Way You Make Me Melt”, “Crying” and “Bad Boy” were also used for the promotion. On November 26, Hyorin released her debut studio album Love & Hate .
On June 5, 2014, Starship Entertainment spoke about the group’s recording process for the new album, and that their comeback will take place in early July. On July 21, the third Touch N Move mini-album was released with the single “Touch My Body”. [25] [26] Later in July, the single "Naughty Hands" was released. On August 26, the fourth mini-album and the second summer album, Sweet & Sour, were released . [27] In December, Sistar won the Best Female Band nomination at the Mnet Asian Music Awards . [28]
On June 22, 2015, the fifth mini-album Shake It was released with the single of the same name. [29] On August 1, a performance at the KCON festival in Los Angeles took place , and Herin’s participation in the second season of the “Unappealing Rap Star” show was also confirmed. On August 14, Sistar performed on the 70th anniversary of Korea's Liberation Day . On September 7, Hyorin released the free single, “The Wall Destroyer.” September 22, Soyu released a duet with Changel from 10cm - "Lean on Me".
2016–2017: Insane Love , Lonely, and Disbandment
On June 1, Sistar announced the return of the same month with a song produced by Black Eyed Pilseung, who also worked on their single, “Touch My Body.” [30] On June 4, the group celebrated its sixth anniversary. On June 10, a collaboration of girls with DJ Soda was released. On June 14, the title of the upcoming single was announced - "I Like That." [31] On June 21, the fourth mini-album, Insane Love , was released.
On May 10, 2017, the first teaser for the upcoming comeback scheduled for the end of May appeared. [32] The new single "Lonely" was released on May 31. [33] [34] On May 22, the group’s agency confirmed its disbandment after the release of the last single. [35] [36] The company is negotiating a renewal of contracts with participants for solo activities. Soya and Das extended their contracts with the agency, and Bora and Kherin did not renew them. [37]

Subgroups
Khorin and Bora made their debut as part of the sub-band Sistar19 in 2011. [13] The first single, “Ma Boy,” was released in May of that year. In January 2013, the first mini-album was released.
