Multi-colored brandochka ( Latin: Bulbocodium versicolor ) is a herbaceous plant, a species of the genus Colchicum ( Colchicum ) of the colchicum family ( Colchicaceae ). It is included in the Red Book of the Russian Federation , the Red Book of Ukraine and the Red Book of Moldova .

Habitat and habitat

It grows in Central Europe and in the Eastern Mediterranean ( Pyrenees , Alps ), also in the south of Europe, in Moldova , Russia , Ukraine [2] . As a rule, it grows on the steppe slopes of beams, less often on steppe glades in oak forests and in elevated sections of river floodplains.

Description

Early spring tuberous ephemeroid , flowering simultaneously with the appearance of leaves. The ovaries are underground, come to the surface with arrows. Flowers - 2-3, rarely 4, the color is lilac-pink, length from 4 to 6 cm, diameter about 6 cm, the lower part of the flower underground. Blooms in early spring, flowering duration 2 weeks, each individual flower blooms 8-10 days. The leaves begin to develop simultaneously with the flowers, subsequently outgrow them and stretch to 20-30 cm, turn yellow and die by the end of May.

It is included in the Red Books of the following regions of Russia: Belgorod region , Volgograd region , Voronezh region , Kursk region , Lipetsk region , Rostov region , Saratov region . And the following regions of Ukraine: Donetsk region , Kirovograd region , Poltava region , Sumy region [3] .
