The municipality of Colombé-le-Dez-Eglise was created by decision of the administration in 1793 and became part of the Chaumont district and the Blanc canton. In 1801 , under the name Colombe, he moved to the canton of Jusenncourt. In 1972, Argentolles, Biernes, Blaise, Champcourt, Arricourt, Pratz and Lavilleneuve-aux- (Lavilleneuve-aux- Fresnes).
Charles de Gaulle
Colombé gained fame as the home and burial place of statesman General Charles de Gaulle , who acquired luxury real estate on the southwestern edge of the village in 1934 . De Gaulle often visited Colombey when luck in politics turned away from him: at the beginning of the founding of the Fourth Republic in 1946 , and then between 1953 and 1958 , before he became president in the wake of the Algerian crisis . His last move to Colombe occurred in 1969 , where he died the following year. “Colombé” began to be used as a political metaphor for politicians who temporarily left politics until the country called them again.
De Gaulle was buried in the cemetery in Colombay, under a modest tombstone with the inscription "Charles de Gaulle 1890-1970." In addition, at the western entrance to the village, a Lorraine cross was built with a height of 44.3 m, thereby perpetuating the outstanding role of Charles de Gaulle during the war as commander of the Free French Forces . The memorial museum was opened in October 2008 by Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel . This joint Franco-German act marked the fiftieth anniversary of the Colombey negotiation on September 14, 1958 between Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer , as part of the post-war reconciliation process.
