Biography

In 1918 he joined the newly formed Hungarian Communist Party , became one of the organizers of the labor movement. After the fall of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, he was interned and was in prison. After leaving prison, he began cooperation with the illegal Communist Party, in 1921 he was again arrested and sentenced to ten years in prison. In the process of exchanging prisoners in 1922, he entered the Soviet Union. Here in 1932 he graduated and worked as an engineer. In 1933 he returned to his homeland, was arrested and spent ten years in prison in Szeged. In 1944, the Nazis interned in the Dachau concentration camp and was liberated by Soviet troops.

Since 1945, in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian People's Republic:

  • 1946-1948 - First Secretary, Advisor to the Embassy of Hungary in Moscow,
  • 1949 - Representative of the Hungarian People's Republic at the USSR Mission in Berlin,
  • 1949-1951 - Ambassador to the USA
  • 1951-1953 - Ambassador to the UK,
  • 1954-1956 - Ambassador to Czechoslovakia,
  • 1956 - President of the Chamber of Commerce.

Since 1956 (with a break) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hungarian People's Republic.
