Geography
Located on the northwest coast of the island of Popov , which is part of the Shumagin archipelago . According to the US Census Bureau, the total area of the city is 75.0 km², of which approximately 20.2 km² is land and 54.8 km² is water bodies.
The climate of the city is characterized as a polar oceanic. The warmest months of the year are July and August, with an average maximum of 14.2 ° C; the coldest month is February, with an average minimum of −2.8 ° C. The average annual rainfall is 1135 mm [3] .
Population
According to the 2000 census, the population of the city was 952 people [4] . Racial Composition: Native Americans (42.33%), White (27.73%), African Americans (1.47%), Asians (23.21%), Pacific Islander (0.32%), Other Race (2.21%), representatives of two or more races (2.73%). The proportion of people under the age of 18 years is 20.4%; persons from 18 to 24 years old - 8.6%; persons from 25 to 44 years old - 41.5%; persons from 45 to 64 years old - 26.3% and persons over 65 years old - 3.3%. The average age of the population is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 165.2 males.
Of the 226 households, 39.3% raised children under the age of 18, 45.4% were married couples living together, women lived without husbands in 15.7% of the families, 31.9% did not have a family. 25.8% of the total number of families at the time of the census lived independently, while 3.9% were single elderly people aged 65 years and older. On average, 2.67 people are households, and the average family size is 3.17 people.
The average income on a joint venture is $ 55,417; median household income is $ 58,000. Average male income is $ 20,000; the average income of a woman is $ 22,500; the average per capita income is $ 21,954.

Economics
Sand Point's economy is based on fishing and fish processing. The largest fishing fleet of the Aleutian Islands is based in the city [6] .
Attractions
Among the sights of the city can be noted the Orthodox chapel of St. Nicholas, built in the 1930s. In 1980, the chapel was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places .
