In October 1600, during the Battle of Sekigahara, Moritika fought on the side of Isis Mitsunari. After the victory of Tokugawa Ieyasu and the defeat of Isis Mitsunari Choshokabe Moritika was deprived of his clan possessions (Tosa province), but at the request of Ii Naomasa , a friend of his father Choshokabe Mototiki , they left his life. After the final defeat of Toyotomi Hideyori at the Battle of Tennouji and his surrender, Choshokabe Moritika tried to escape, but was captured and beheaded with his sons in May 1615 .
