Pierre Adolphe Cheruel ( French Pierre Adolphe Chéruel ; January 17, 1809 - May 1, 1891 ) - French historian.

Born and raised in Rouen , devoted two thorough works to the history of the city and was elected to the Royal Academy of Rouen. He taught in Rouen, among his students in the Lyceum was Gustave Flaubert . He worked in Paris, taught for some time at the Higher Normal School (which he had once graduated from). Certain interest aroused two of Cheruel's work on Saint-Simon . Among the Russian translators of Cheruel was the young Saltykov-Shchedrin .
