South Asian Games 2004

The 9th South Asian Games were held in Islamabad ( Pakistan ) in 2004. Pakistan hosted the South Asian Games for the second time (for the first time in 1989 ). The opening ceremony took place on March 29, and the closing - on April 7. Athletes from 8 countries took part in competitions in 20 sports. Initially, the 9th South Asian federative games were to be held in 2001, but were postponed due to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the United States .
