Ignipuncture (from the Latin. Ignis , fire + punctura , piercing) - therapeutic immersion of strongly heated burners in various tissues of the body to a greater or lesser depth.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Pakelin's cauterizer ( thermocauter ) was almost exclusively used for this purpose. It consists of a wooden handle, to which tips of sheet platinum (the so-called fittings), arranged in the form of a closed hollow case in which gasoline is blown, injected using an ordinary atomizer, is screwed onto various shapes.
