Zheran ( Polish Żerań ) is a microdistrict within the borders of modern Warsaw , within the administrative borders of the Białolenka district. It is located on the right bank of the Vistula, along the Zheransky Canal , which has a gateway and is an important part of Poland’s internal shipping system.

History

Zheran arose as one of the suburbs of Warsaw, on the right bank of the Vistula River. At the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries, Warsaw served as a place for summer holidays and walks. But he very quickly acquired industrial specialization: back in Russian times, vinegar, brewery and other factories appeared here. The number of permanent residents in the 1897 census reached 10,000 [1] .

Modern Feature

The microdistrict borders on Prague-North Square and with the following settlements: Tarchomin, Ruzopol , Konstantynów, and Annopol. Part of Gerani is located east of the local railway line and is called Zheran-Vostok. Modern Zheran has industrial specialization, although residential areas are also located in the northwestern part. On the territory of Zheran there is the Zheran Thermal Power Plant , an important railway line passes, there is a cement plant and many others. There is a misconception that the Warsaw Passenger Car Factory is also located in Zheran, but this is not true. In fact, this plant is located south of Białolenka , in the Prague-North region , on the outskirts of Peltsovizna .
