The history of the zoo began in 1978 as a haven of leopards , axises and Indian gazelles found in the region. [1] This place gained popularity and became part of the Japanese garden. An aviary was later built. The capital's development department, by August 2008, had developed a plan to modernize and expand the zoo as a recreation area and reserve. The declared cost of the project amounted to 1,407.8 million Pakistani rupees . [2]
