The first settlement on the territory of the settlement - the village of New Vasyugan - was founded in 1933 by exiles during collectivization [2]
Geography
The settlement is located on the banks of the Vasyugan River , in the west of the Tomsk Region, in a remote area from the main transport arteries. Area - 645,295 km² [3] . The distance to the district center is 370 km [4] .

The rural settlement is governed by the head of the settlement and the Council. The head of the rural settlement is Lysenko Pavel Herbertovich [12] .
Economics
The basis of the local economy is agriculture, retail, fisheries, timber (Vasyugan Forestry LLC) and wild plants , picking mushrooms, pine nuts and medicinal herbs [2] [4] . Over 30 private stores operate.
Education, Social Affairs and Culture
On the territory of the settlement there are: a school, a kindergarten, a nursing department, an outpatient clinic, a feldsher-obstetric center, a Novovasyugan culture center [13] , a library [4] .
