The 16th European Women's Volleyball Champions Cup was held from February 7 to April 11, 1976 with the participation of 15 club teams of the European Volleyball Confederation (EKB) . The final stage was held in Eupen ( Belgium ). The winner of the tournament for the first time was the Czechoslovak team "Ruda Gvezde" ( Prague ).

Drawing system
The tournament hosted the champions of the 15 member countries of the EKB. The competition consisted of 1/8 and 1/4 finals of the playoffs and the final stage.
The final stage consisted of a one-round tournament with the participation of four winners of the quarterfinal pairs.
In connection with the preparation of their teams for the Olympics-76, champions of the USSR ( Dinamo Moscow ), GDR (Dinamo Berlin) and Hungary (NIM-SHE) refused to participate.
