Biography
Vasily Lazarev was born on February 3, 1920 in the village of Koltovo (now the Kashirsky District of the Moscow Region ). After graduating from the seven classes of the school, he entered the Penza technical school of an engine farm. In 1940, Lazarev was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942 he graduated from the Balashov military aviation school of pilots . Since 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By March 1945, the senior lieutenant Vasily Lazarev commanded the guards of the 173rd Guards assault air regiment of the 11th Guards assault division of the 16th Air Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . By that time, he had made 115 combat sorties to attack the clusters of military equipment and enemy manpower, inflicting heavy losses on him [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 15, 1946, senior lieutenant Vasily Lazarev was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union to the Guard with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the war, Lazarev continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1955, in the rank of major, he was dismissed. He lived in the city of Baranavichy of the Brest region of the Byelorussian SSR [1] .
He was also awarded three Orders of the Red Banner , two Orders of the Patriotic War , 1st degree, the Order of the Red Star , and a number of medals [1] .
