Biography
ME AND. Lavrov was born on March 22, 1914 in a peasant family according to some sources in the village of Voskresensky in the Yamkinsky volost of the Bogorodsky district of the Moscow province , now in the rural settlement of Yamkinsky in the Noginsky district of the Moscow region ), and according to other sources in the village of Mishukovo of the same volost.
After finishing seven classes of the school, he worked as an accountant on a collective farm. In June 1941, Lavrov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since June 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
In 1944, Lavrov graduated from the Stalingrad Military Tank School [1] .
By August 1944, Senior Lieutenant Yakov Lavrov commanded a platoon of T-34 tanks of the 3rd Tank Battalion, 111th Tank Brigade ( 25th Tank Corps , 38th Army , 1st Ukrainian Front ). He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . In battles at the bridgehead on the western bank of the Wisłok River, Lavrov’s platoon destroyed 1 tank, 1 assault gun, 4 artillery pieces, and more than 10 enemy machine-gun points. On August 14 (according to other sources , August 19 ), 1944 , when the tank of the platoon commander was shot down, Lavrov, despite the death of the rest of the crew and his own serious wound, continued to shoot until he died. He was buried on the eastern outskirts of the village of Shebne ( Polish Szebnie ) Kraisgauptmannschaft Jaslo District Krakow Areas of state interests of Germany , now the anthem Jaslo Jaslensky powiat of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship of Poland [1] .
Member of the CPSU (b) since 1942 , according to other sources - a member of the Komsomol at the time of death.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, Senior Lieutenant Yakov Ivanovich Lavrov was posthumously awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union [1] .
