Known as a specialist in the rescue of corporations from collapse. During his career, he twice saved large companies from collapse: Ford Motor - in which he was CEO in 2006–2014 and Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) - in which he worked before [2] .

Malalli’s achievements at Ford are captured in Bryce Hoffman’s book American Icon: Alan Malalli - Fight to Save the Ford Motor Company (2012).

Biography

Born in 1945 in Oakland , California .

In 1969 he graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in aerospace engineering.

In 1982, he received a Master of Management degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .

In 1969, he entered Boeing as an engineer. Participated in the development of aircraft series 727, 737, 747, 757 and 767.

Later he worked as vice-president of engineering and led the program to create a series of aircraft Boeing 777 .

In 1998 he was appointed president of the commercial aircraft division - Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

In 2001, he became executive vice president of Boeing.

In September 2006, he was appointed CEO and member of the board of directors of the Ford Motor Company [3] .

Ford , which struggled with the recession in the late 2000s, returned to profitability precisely because of Mallally [4] .

In October 2013, the leadership of the auto giant Ford gathered to discuss the company's future plans and the plans of Malally himself. In the high-tech sphere, there are rumors that after the departure of Steve Ballmer from the post of Microsoft CEO , one of the most likely candidates for the vacant position is the current Ford Motor CEO Alan Malalli [5] .

July 1, 2014 resigned from Ford. And on July 9, he was officially appointed a member of the board of directors of Google Inc. and will work on the Google Audit Committee [1] .
