Biography
He lived in St. Petersburg. He served in the Post Office. Among the famous Russian art patrons had patrons, the most famous of which is the collector Alexey Tomilov , in his estate Uspenskoe (now in the territory of Staraya Ladoga village) [1] [2] the artist has repeatedly visited. [3]
For a time, I. A. Ivanov as a free-lance student studied with M. N. Vorobyov at the Imperial Academy of Arts . [3]
Creativity
He painted landscapes and paintings on everyday topics that were in great demand. His main work performed in the 1840s. [3]
Famous works:
- Landscape with a river. Ekaterinoff - 1844, oil on canvas, 39.5 x 50.5 cm. Stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery. [4] [5] The work is sometimes attributed to landscape painter Valerian Kamenev [6] , but this is not true, since in the lower right corner of the canvas there is a signature painted in red by Ivanov. [7]
- Crimea. Alupka - 1840s, oil on canvas. 54.5 x 76.5 cm. The work is in the National Gallery of the Komi Republic. [8] [9]
- Landscape. Estate Uspenskoe - 1846, 54 x 76 cm. Stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery. [7]
- Horse riding - 46.5 x 60.5 cm. Stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery. [7]
Possible work:
- The path at the mountain stream in the Crimea is 54.6 x 77 cm. It was received by the State Tretyakov Gallery in 1925 from the Rumyantsev Museum (collection of F. I. Pryanishnikov). The catalog of the Tretyakov Gallery of 1952 is listed as the work of Ivan Alekseevich Ivanov (1779-1488). [7]
- Waterfall in the Crimea. Orianda - 105.3 x 73.5 cm. Received in the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery in 1927 from the GMF (collection of MF Shepping). The catalog of the State Tretyakov Gallery of 1952 is listed as the work of Ivan Alekseevich Ivanov (1779–1848) under the title “Waterfall in the Crimea” [7]
