History
The seminary in Krakow was established on December 20, 1602 by the Krakow Archbishop Cardinal Bernard Matsievsky . Until 1901, seminarians lived and studied at Wawel . In 1899, on the initiative of the Krakow Archbishop Cardinal Jan Puzyni and the project of architect Gabriel Nevyadomsky, construction of a separate seminary building on Podzamkova Street began. On September 28, 1901, the ceremonial opening of the not yet fully prepared seminary building took place. The construction was completed in 1902. During the First and Second World Wars, the seminary building was used by the invaders.
In 1954, another seminary building was acquired for seminary on Pilsudski Street, which today is used for seminars I and II courses.
The seminary is currently a branch of the Pontifical University named after John Paul II in Krakow.
