Vasiliki Malyaru was born on October 16, 1883 in Athens (Greece).
In 1972, Vasiliki was discovered by director William Fridkin in a New York Greek restaurant. Fridkin offered her the role of Mary Carras in his film The Exorcist . Malyaru, who had no previous acting experience, agreed to shoot. The film was released on December 26, 1973 - 10 months after her death on February 9, 1973 in the Bronx (New York, USA) at the age of 89.
