Scientific activity
Specialist in the field of molecular biology of RNA- containing animal viruses . He conducted research both in the field of fundamental biological science and in its medical applications. On the one hand, this is a study of the mechanisms of biosynthesis of proteins and RNA (on the model of RNA-containing viruses), and on the other hand, a study of the molecular mechanisms of the pathogenicity of viruses.
He made a significant contribution to the study of the mechanisms of replication , translation , complementation, and recombination of PHK-containing viruses, as well as their interaction with the cell.
The scientific research of V.I.
He created a unique lecture course on the replication and transcription of viral genomes and read it to students of the Department of Virology and the Department of Molecular Biology, Faculty of Biology, Moscow State University for over 40 years.
Selected Scientific Publications
The author of about 300 scientific papers.
- Molecular biology of viruses. - M., 1971, (co-author);
- Molecular biology: Structure and biosynthesis of nucleic acids. - M., 1990 (et al.).
Rewards
- Soros professor (1998) [2]
- Triumph Award ( 2007 )
- 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award for Scientific Contribution (Inst. Of Human Virology, Univ. Of Maryland School of Medicine, USA).
