Biography
In 1944, he went to the first class of the Maloabazinskaya school, but studied there for only two years, since in 1946 the family moved to Elburgan , and in 1950 to Inzhich-Chukun .
In 1952, having graduated from the seven-year period with a commendable diploma, in the direction of the Khabez district committee of the Komsomol, he entered the regional national boarding school.
After graduation, he entered the historical and philological faculty of the Stavropol Pedagogical Institute. Having successfully completed the first course, I passed the documents to the Literary Institute. Gorky in Moscow and, having successfully passed the competition, became his student. He studied with the famous poet Vladimir Lugovsky , and then - with V.D. Zakharchenko . Chikatuev was the first student and graduate of the Literary Institute from Karachay-Cherkessia.
In 1961 he graduated from the Literary Institute, taught for a year at the Karachaevsky Pedagogical Institute, and after admission to the USSR Writers Union , in 1962, he joined the national newspaper.
Since 1964, he worked as an editor of a regional book publishing house, deputy executive secretary of a regional writing organization, a literary consultant, and then again at a publishing house, at a research institute.
Creativity
The first poem “We are Pioneers” was written in the 10th grade, the poem was published on the pages of the Abaza national newspaper “Socialist Circassia” on December 16, 1954. Three months later, two of his poems again saw the light on the pages of this newspaper. So the entry of Mikael Chikatuev into literature took place. In 1956, in the Literary Newspaper translated by Lev Shcheglov, his poem Love was published, and this was the first Abaza work to appear in the central press [1] .
He was the author of about 30 poetry collections in the Abaza, Abkhaz and Russian languages.
In 1958, he released his first collection of poems, “I Take Uphiartsu,” and the output of the second collection of “Melodies of Ingzha” coincided with the graduation year of the institute. And a year later, on May 29, 1962, he was admitted to the USSR Writers Union. [1] He was the author of the first Abaza book of verlibres ("Chime of Leaves", 1986) and sonnets ("Light of the Heart", 1998). An event of great cultural importance is the publication in 2007 of the solid two-volume “Anthology of Abaza Poetry” compiled by him. In 2011, a five-volume collection of poetry in the original language was published in Krasnodar [2] .
The poetry of M. Kh. Chikatuev has been studied for many years in schools and universities of Karachay-Cherkessia within the disciplines “Abaza literature”, “literature of the peoples of Karachay-Cherkessia” and “literature of the peoples of the North Caucasus” [2] .
Therefore, a number of new words and terms were introduced into the speech circulation of the Abaza language. He created and introduced the word Abazashta - the name of the homeland, place of residence of the Abazins, not only in poetic, but also in the nationwide circulation, today this word is widely used, since 1991 the only Abazashta newspaper has been called " Abazashta " [2] .
In 2011, a five-volume collection of poetry in the original language was published in Krasnodar.
