Biography
Born on November 9, 1933 in the Hawaiian Islands. Roots moved to the continental United States. In 1950, he entered the coast guard service, worked in New York. Soon he moved to California, where he seriously engaged in bodybuilding.
Athlete Career
In 1967, he won the Mr. Fremont competition. Participating in the championships of California, in 1968 he won the “Heart of California”, “Mr. Northern California” and “Mr. Golden West”. In 1970, he won the Iron Man contest. The following year was followed by a series of victories at Mr. California and Mr. USA. In 1972, in the contest "Mr. America" took 1st place. Ed Corney's most significant victory in his bodybuilder career was the 1972 Mr. Universe. In 1974, the athlete received a professional IFBB card. He made his debut at Mr. Olympia in 1975 and took 2nd place in the Lightweight category. Over the next seven years, he successfully performed at the professional competitions “Mr. Olympia” and “Night of Champions”. He finished his career in competitive bodybuilding in 1983, taking 14th place on "Mr. Olympia 1983". In 1994, the 61-year-old athlete returned to bodybuilding and successfully performed at veteran competitions. In 1994 and 1995, at the Olympia Master, he took 1st place in his age category. He successfully performed at "Master Olympia 1997", taking second place in his category. In 1998, after the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic contest, Ed Corney finally left the platform.
In 1999, the health status of an elderly athlete deteriorated sharply. He suffered a heart attack resulting from shoulder surgery and fell into a coma. After spending several months in a coma, I couldn’t walk on my own, but went through a rehabilitation course and returned to an active lifestyle.
