Kostrov, Peter Ivanovich

Biography

Petr Ivanovich was born in a family of railway workers. Since apart from him, his parents had five more children (girls), and it was difficult to live on a salary, Kostrov left home in the 5th grade - transferred to a boarding school, and there he received a matriculation certificate.

After the 10th grade, he entered the fire department, but did not make a career: in 1949, Pyotr Ivanovich became a student in the Azov-Black Sea Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. In 1954, after graduating from the Faculty of Mechanization, Kostrov departed for the Omsk Region, where he received the position of mechanic at the Sergeevsk Machine and Tractor Station.

The industriousness and keen mind of the young man was noticed by party officials, and Kostrov was transferred to the Okoneshnikovsky district party committee of the Omsk region. But this work does not satisfy him, and in the fall of 1955 he entered the graduate school of the Altai Agricultural Institute.

During his studies, Pyotr Ivanovich works part-time as an assistant at the Department of Operation of the Machine and Tractor Park, and after graduating from an educational institution in 1958, he is hired for the same position at full time. Since 1961, Kostrov has been working as a senior teacher of the department, and leaves his place only in 1996.

During his work at the Altai State Agrarian University (Altai Agricultural Institute), Kostrov received patents for more than 50 inventions and wrote 47 scientific papers. During the Khrushchev era, N. S. Petr Ivanovich worked on the cultivation and harvesting of legumes, for which he was awarded a valuable gift at one of the VDNH exhibitions (his work received a silver medal).

After Brezhnev came to power, the ideas and achievements of the agrarian turned out to be unclaimed. The period of depression came, but Kostrov coped with the problem and with all his head went into inventive activity. At the same time, he did not cease to study and study, enrolling at the Central Institute for Advanced Studies of specialists and senior employees in the field of patent work at the age of 45, and graduated from three more faculties of the Altai Public Institute of Patent Science upon graduation from this institution.

Achievements

The successes of Pyotr Ivanovich were marked by repeated recognition of him as the best inventor of his native university, awarding with the signs "Excellence in Invention and Rationalization of 1977" and "Drummer X1 of the Five-Year Plan", nominating for the title of the best inventor of the region, presenting the prize to them. I.I. Polzunova. His ideas, developments and inventions are widely implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, and in 1994 the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree on conferring on Kostrov the title of Honored Inventor of the Russian Federation.

The scientific works of Pyotr Ivanovich were published both in the collections of the State Agrarian University and in the journals Technology in Agriculture, Agriculture, and Siberian Agriculture, for example:
