Biography
Born on November 6, 1934 in Odessa (now Ukraine ) in a family of theatrical figures. Father - Efimenko (Yukhimenko) Rodion Dmitrievich, director, Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1948). From 1937 to 1951, including the evacuation of the theater to Kazakhstan ) was a director, chief director, artistic director of the Poltava Musical Drama Theater named after N.V. Gogol . From 1951 to 1958 he directed the Lugansk Ukrainian Musical Drama Theater named after A. Ostrovsky . Mother - Seletskaya Evgenia Vasilievna, Honored Artist of Ukraine (since 1947), worked for a long period in the musical and drama theaters of Odessa, Kharkov, Lugansk and Poltava, performing on the stage more than a hundred highly artistic dramatic images that always found positive feedback not only from the audience, but also among critics.
Rodionovich Efimenko Rodionovich in 1957 graduated with honors from the I.K. Karpenko-Karyi Kiev State Institute of Theater Arts (currently - I.K. Karpenko-Karyi National University of Theater, Film and Television ). After graduating from the institute, he worked as an assistant director at the A. Dovzhenko Kiev Film Studio , including in the film “The Plug Marries Tarapunk” , the main roles in which were played by unsurpassed masters of Ukrainian humor Yu. Berezin and Yu. Timoshenko . The first film, where R. Efimenko acted as the second director, was for him the film “The First Young Man” by S. Parajanov . After the creation of the Ukrainian television film studio in 1965, Rodion Rodionovich went to work at Ukrtelefilm , where he worked until 1998. With his arrival, the first Ukrainian television film (The City We Live in) was shot at the studio, as well as The first documentary television movie and the first film production. At the same time as working at the studio, R. R. Efimenko, together with V. L. Chubasov, headed the directing course at the I. Karpenko-Kary Kiev State Institute of Theater Arts . Among their graduates are such well-known filmmakers as Anatoly Borsyuk , Vladimir Bortko , Nikolai Maletsky , Vladimir Popkov (1974), as well as Vladimir Goncharov, Boris Nebieridze (1975) and others.
During the period of work at Ukrtelefilm, R. Efimenko became the director, and in some cases, the scriptwriter of more than eighty feature films, documentaries, and journalistic films, as well as concert films and performances. Most remembered by the viewer are such films as “The City I Live in” (1959), “Kobzar lived here” (1966) - the first Ukrainian color film to be awarded many prizes, “Know Yourself” (1971) - Grand Prix and Gold medal at the Varna International Film Festival (1972), Natalka Poltavka (1978), Eighteen Years Old (1987) and others. In films shot by Rodion Efimenko, such well-known actors as A. Mateshko , G. Nilov , V. Ryzhakov, L. Perfilov , N. Sumskaya , K. Stepankov, I. Tereshchenko , V. Shevelkov played ... Music films and films The director’s concerts were dedicated to the works of S. Rotaru , V. Zinkevich , I. Shamo , the Marenice trio , VIA “Kobza”, “Svityazi” and many other famous composers and performers. A number of films by R. Efimenko are devoted to important political events in the life of Ukraine and to individual political figures (A. Emets, I. Drach , V. Filenko , V. Chervoniy , the 500th anniversary of the Ukrainian Cossacks, the Unification Day of Ukraine and many others). Films dedicated to the life and work of T. G. Shevchenko , which caused a wide positive resonance both in Ukraine and far beyond its borders, occupy a special place in the director’s work .
Efimenko (Yukhimenko) Rodion Rodionovich died after a severe and prolonged illness on March 18, 2008 . He is buried next to the graves of his father and mother at the Darnitsky cemetery of Kiev Kiev . Efimenko R.R. is dedicated to the memory of a number of literary works. In particular, the collection “Remember him like that”, Kiev-2009, the publishing house “Cheeks”, compilers Dvornichenko L. M. and Chernukhina L.
