Biography
Born on January 12, 1919 in a peasant family in the village of Kanichi, Kostyukovichi District, Mogilyov Region .
He studied at the Minsk Chemical Technology College (1934-1935), at the Faculty of Work at the Belarusian State University .
April 5, 1937 was repressed. He served his sentence in the Far East until April 1941 in the Lower Amur camp. Rehabilitated by the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR in 1969.
In 1941-1968 in the ranks of the Soviet Army. During the Great Patriotic War, he participated in battles as a commander of a mortar platoon. Finished the war in Austria .
He graduated from the Buinaksk infantry school (1944), Military Law Academy (1951).
In 1972-1985 - the head of the editorial board of the prose of the publishing house "Mastatskaya Literature". Since 1985 in creative work. Since 1990 - member of the Council of the Writers' Union of the Byelorussian SSR. He headed the commission of the Writers' Union of the Byelorussian SSR to return the legacy of repressed writers. He died on November 4, 1992 in Minsk [1] .
Creativity
The first poem was published in 1934 in the newspaper “Piener Belarus”, the first story - in 1937 in the newspaper “Iskra Ilyich” (Gomel). He returned to literary activity in 1954 when he published the story "Anis boron" in the Vladimir literary anthology.
Known as a children's writer, author of action and historical prose. He translated into Belarusian the R. Kipling 's fairy tale “Why an elephant has a long nose” (1974).
The works of V. F. Khomchenko were translated into Russian, Ukrainian, Moldavian, Lithuanian, and other languages.
