The emergence of a group
The Wah Ching gang was created in San Francisco in the early 1960s (although some triad members claim it has been around for more than 300 years). At that time, Wah Ching was a single, very large gang. She controlled most of the crime in Asian communities in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Group History
Wah Ching first attracted media attention in 1977 when a massacre took place at the Golden Dragon restaurant in San Francisco with Wah Ching and another Chinese gang, Chang Yi Ching. The reason for the battle was the attack of Wah Ching bandits on the members of Chang Yi Ching, committed several months ago, during which one of them was killed and two were injured.
In 1991, Danny "Ah Pai" Wong, the head of Wah Ching, was killed by a hit man. In 1995, two police special operations were carried out in Los Angeles, during which an underground factory was discovered where Wah Ching manufactured counterfeit Microsoft products worth about $ 18 million. Weapons and a TNT and C-4 explosive depot were also discovered.
Modernity
Wah Ching consists mainly of young men. Members of the group prefer casual and business clothes to make it difficult for the authorities to distinguish them from other citizens. Most Wah Ching members have no affiliation with the triad (which is the nominal center of the group) and are simply a street gang involved in ongoing criminal conflicts.
Wah Ching is in conflict with another Asian gang in Los Angeles - Asian Boyz (ABZ), which is adjacent to the Vietnamese gang (VBZ). Currently, the gang is showing signs of mixed ideology. Despite the fact that Wah Ching literally means “Chinese youth” in Chinese, some non-Chinese people are members of Wah Ching. In particular, the gang includes a large number of Vietnamese. The same applies to their rivals - the Vietnamese Boyz (VBZ), among which there are many Chinese.
