Ruyigi ^[1] ( fr. Ruyigi ) is a city in the east of Burundi , the administrative center of the province of the same name .

Geographical position

The city is located in the central part of the province, south of the Sanzu River (the Ruvuvu River basin), at an altitude of 1842 meters above sea level ^[2] . Ruyigi is located approximately 96 kilometers east of Bujumbura , the country's capital.
