Education and scientific degrees
He graduated from school in Mikhailovka (a suburb of Ufa ).
In 1967 he graduated from the Kazan Suvorov Military School .
In 1971 he graduated from the Kharkov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots (HVVAUL) .
In 1981 he graduated from the evening department of the aircraft engineering department of the Zhukovsky branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze , having received the specialty of a mechanical engineer.
Professional Activities
Since March 2002, he has been working as a pilot at V. Grizodubova Airlines LLC in Zhukovsky , carrying out commercial transport transportation by Il-18 aircraft .
Since 2012, the Ural Sultanov International Summer Aerospace School, organized by the Bashkortostan regional branch of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation , the Ufa State Aviation Technical University and the Rada sports club for hunters, has been operating in the Davlekanovsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan .

Military Service

Test work
In 1978, he graduated from the Test Pilot School , worked as a test pilot at the Flight Testing Center (PERS) of the LII MAP. He conducted research on the engines of the MiG-21 and MiG-23 aircraft at critical regimes and altitudes, and developed tactics for combat maneuvering and elements of air combat on the MiG-21 and MiG-23 aircraft. He participated in state joint tests to verify the compatibility of the flight-navigation complex and the automatic control system of the Su-27 aircraft.
In 1981 - 1982 he tested a laser system for photographing air turbulences on wings of a Su-9 aircraft at large angles of attack.
In 1985 - 1987 and in 1990 he conducted strength tests of the Su-27 , Su-25 , MiG-31 and Su-24 aircraft, the engines of the MiG-29 and Su-24 aircraft.
In the summer of 1992, he underwent training and participated in demonstration flights at the Moseroshow-92 exhibition. Performed on a Tu-154 plane down a steep glide path and aerobatics at extremely low altitudes on a MiG-29 plane.

Space Training
In 1978, he participated in the development of the system and principles for controlling the landing of the Buran, which is descending along a steep glide path, on an IL-18 aircraft. In 1979 - 1980 he participated in the experiment "Immersion", which was to study the effect of weightlessness on the piloting technique. After a week of weightlessness, he landed on a steep glide path on the Il-18 (1979) and Su-7 (1980).
In February 1982, he was selected for work under the 11F35 program (Buran). In September 1982, he was sent for in-depth medical examinations to the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP). On December 29, 1982, he passed a medical expert commission (EEC), and on January 25, 1983 he received the final opinion of the MMC on the suitability for special training and was ordered by MAP No. 213 dated April 25, 1983 as a candidate for the cosmonaut-test squad.
From November 13, 1985 to May 22, 1987 he underwent general space training at the TsPK im. Yu.A. Gagarina . After passing the tests on June 5, 1987, he was awarded the qualification of "test cosmonaut."
Since 1987, he underwent training under the Buran program, during which he worked out manual control and automatic landing systems on a Tu-154 laboratory aircraft equipped with a Buran control system, and on MiG-25 and Su-7U airplanes close to aerodynamics MTKK "Buran".
