Shambadal, Mikhail Abramovich

Mikhail Abramovich Shambadal ( August 6, 1891 , Gomel - April 27, 1964 , Moscow ) - Soviet Yiddish translator, writer, journalist, feuilletonist, poet. He gained fame as a translator of the works of Sholom Aleichem . He also translated Der Nister ’s novel “The Mashber Family”.

Biography

Starting in 1911, he published satirical stories in the newspapers of Vilnius and Moscow under the pseudonym Mikhail Kamchadal . During the Second World War, he was in Chistopol , where he worked at a local radio station under the pseudonym Grandfather Kamchadal . During this time, he published in the local press more than four hundred feuilleton poetry.
After the Second World War, he worked in the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee . He published a number of essays in the newspaper Einikait and Der Emes .
