History
It was formed on August 10, 1836 by Manuel Oribe . It took shape as a party of latifundists and the big bourgeoisie. Along with the party, Colorado is one of the traditional parties whose roots go back to the 19th century. In the Civil War , which went from 1863 to 1865, Colorado, which ruled the country until 1958, was driven out. In 1872 she changed her name from the White Party to the National .
A strange event took place in the middle of the 20th century: from 1931 to 1959, a breakaway group operated, calling itself the Independent National Party . Despite the fact that it was, in fact, a separate party, its leaders constantly maintained that "there is only one National Party." The National Party itself remained divided into numerous factions and groups - from the extreme right to the left group Enrique Herro, which joined the Wide Front in 1971.
