Biography
The eldest son and successor of Taked Nobutun ( 1471 - 1507 ), the 17th head of the Takeda clan (1491-1507) [1]
In March 1507, after the death of his father, the 14-year-old Takeda Nobutora became the new head of the Takeda clan and daimyo of the mountainous province of Kai .
In October 1521, Takeda Nobutora was defeated at the battle of Iidagavar Fukushima Hyugo, the daimyo commander Imagawa Ujitika . In July 1528, he defeated the battle of Nasinokidaira Hojo Ujitsuna . In March 1531, Suva Yorishige defeated in the battle of Shiokawa-no- gawar .
In 1536, Takeda Nobutora opposed his rebel vassal, Hirag Gensin. Takeda met with Hirag at Wino-kuchi, but was forced to retreat. However, his 15-year-old son, the future Takeda Shingen ( 1521 - 1573 ), volunteered to go to the rear guard of the retreating army. When they moved a sufficient distance from the castle, Takeda Shingen turned his squad and, in the snow, led him back to the rebel castle. The defenders of the castle were not ready for such a turn of events and surrendered without a fight. Hiraga Gansin was killed.
Takeda Nobutora sought to subjugate the neighboring provinces of Sinano and Suruga to his power.
Instead of the eldest son, Harunobu Nobutara wanted to make his second son Nobusige ( 1525 - 1561 ) as his successor. In 1541, with the support of his father’s main vassals , Takeda Shingen rebelled against Nobutor’s power and expelled him from Kai. Takeda Nobutora fled to the province of Suruga , where he found shelter at the court of daimyo Imagawa Yoshimoto .
In March 1574, 81-year-old Takeda Nobutora died in the province of Shinano . He was buried in the Daisenji Monastery in Kofu (modern Yamanashi Prefecture ).
