History

Kamensky fish factory and fishing port at the mouth of Oprichninki

Makarovo settlement arose in 1907, with the arrival of the first settlers. One of the first settlers of Makarov was a tsarist officer named Miracles (his name was Grandfather Makovka), who was exiled here in 1904. Presumably, the settlement of Makarovo is named after the captain of the research vessel Vityaz Makarov Sergey Osipovich, the ship belonged to the Navy and served in the Pacific for 3 years.

The first settlers built small houses for themselves, sowed oats, wheat, chumizu, grew vegetables, and raised cattle. Men were engaged in hunting and fishing. Local residents exchanged bread, fish, potatoes for necessary products, goods, especially soap, salt, kerosene. At first, salt was evaporated from sea water, and went to the store on foot on Tetyukh-Pristan. Convicts built the road from Tetyuha to Makarovo in 1914. [2]

in 1929, a fish cannery was built and put into operation with one willow and one crab line. In June 1931, the Mutuhe fish cannery was organized, which later became the Kamensky fish factory, the city-forming enterprise. A fish factory was developing, and the village of Makarovo grew at its base. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of May 30, 1951, the settlement of Makarovo was assigned to the category of workers' settlements with the name Kamenka. In 1951, Kamenka received the status of an urban-type settlement. Since 2004, Kamenka is a rural settlement.
