Tamdy gas field - located in the Karakiy district of the Mangistau region, 120 km from the city of Aktau . Belongs to the Aksu-Kendirlinsky step of the South Mangistau trough.

About the field
Prepared by the Seismic Survey of the MOU in 1969 . Exploration work began in 1975 . Discovered in 1977 by parametric well No. 2.
It is confined to the brachianticline fold with dimensions of 7x3 km and amplitude of 20 m. Industrial gas content of the roofing of the Neocomian deposits, represented by intercalation of sandstones, clay siltstones and clays, with rare interlayers of marls and limestones, has been established. 2 small deposits, A and B, were identified with a roof depth of 1908 and 1917 m.
Deposits are stratified, vaulted, with lithological shielding elements (reservoir A). The porosity of terrigenous porous reservoirs is 17%; there is no permeability information. The total thickness of the reservoir varies within 3.303.8 m, effective 2.1-2.2 m, gas-saturated - 1.7-2.0 m.
The coefficient of gas saturation of 0.56. Free gas is heavy in composition, the content of heavy hydrocarbons in it exceeds 11%, the amount of nitrogen reaches 5.9%, carbon dioxide - 0.3%. Initial reservoir pressure 19.6-19.8 MPa. The gas production rate in reservoir A is 128.3 thousand m 3 / day, in reservoir B - 172 thousand m 3 / day. Gas-water contacts were established, respectively, at the levels - 1872 m and - 1826 m. The waters of the field are practically not studied. The mode of deposits is water-pressure.
The field has been in conservation since 1984 [1] .
