Biography
Yakov Kulishev was born on April 23, 1913 in the village of Menshikovo (now the October Village Council of the Ferzikovsky District of the Kaluga Region ) into a working family.
In 1921, his parents Sergei Stepanovich and Agrippina Yakovlevna decided to move to the village of Yudino, Petukhov volost, Ishim district, Tyumen province (now the city of Petukhovo, Kurgan region) [1] .
In 1928, Yakov graduated from seven classes of the school and was hired by the Petukhov switch factory . He was a student locksmith, worked on a lathe, joined the Komsomol . Together with other advanced workers, Yakov was sent to the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant under construction, where he graduated from the courses of drivers. After collectivization in agriculture, he was transferred by a turner to the Petukhov MTS (machine and tractor station).
In 1935 - 1937, Kulishev served in the tank units of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Demobilized, he worked at the Petukhov Poultry Plant.
In June 1941, he was again drafted into the army. He fought as a driver of the T-34 tank on the Karelian front ( Ukhta direction). In 1942, Kulishev graduated from the Gorky Tank School . Since July 1942 at the front. From April 1 to June 16, 1944 he fought on the 2nd Ukrainian Front. From June 20, 1944 he fought on the 1st Belorussian Front, was wounded slightly on September 26, 1944. By January 1945, non-partisan guards lieutenant Yakov Kulishev commanded a platoon of T-34 tanks of the 1st tank battalion of the 47th guards tank brigade of the 9th guards tank corps of the 2nd guards tank army of the 1st Belorussian front . Distinguished during the liberation of Poland [2] .
Kulishev’s platoon repeatedly distinguished itself in battles near Gruec and Mszczonow , destroying a total of 4 artillery pieces, 5 self-propelled artillery mounts, 15 vehicles, 25 carts, 12 firing points, more than 200 enemy soldiers and officers.
On January 16, 1945, in the battle for the city of Zyrardow , located in the District of Warsaw ( Polish: Dystrykt warszawski ) of the State Interests of Germany (now Zhirarduv county of the Masovian Voivodeship , Poland ), the Kulishev tank was shot down on the western outskirts of the city. Yakov Sergeyevich, under enemy fire, repaired him, but was wounded by an enemy machine gunner. Despite a serious wound, he continued to lead the actions of his platoon and repair the tank, dying. He was buried in Mszczonow [2] . Re-buried in 1989.
Rewards
- By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, for “exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, Lieutenant Yakov Sergeyevich Kuleshov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union [3] :

- Order of Lenin .
- Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree ( February 13, 1945 , posthumously) [4] .

Memory
- In honor of Kulishev the street in Petukhovo is named [2] .
- By Decree of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR No. 3 381 of November 2, 1967, the Petukhovo Secondary General Labor Polytechnic School was named after Hero of the Soviet Union, 1938 graduate Yakov Sergeyevich Kulishev.
