Biography
Nikolai Kulikov was born on December 19, 1920 in the village of Karandyshevo (now - Yuryev-Polsky district of the Vladimir region ). In 1930 he moved to Moscow , where he graduated from a factory apprenticeship school and worked as a carpenter. In parallel with work, he was engaged in a flying club. In 1940, Kulikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1942, he graduated from the Engels Military Aviation Pilot School. Since July of the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By January 1945, the senior lieutenant Nikolai Kulikov commanded a squadron of the 187th Guards Assault Air Regiment ( 12th Guards Assault Air Division , 3rd Guards Assault Air Corps , 5th Air Army , 2nd Ukrainian Front ). By that time, he had made 100 sorties to attack accumulations of military equipment and manpower of the enemy, inflicting heavy losses on him, personally shot down two planes [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 15, 1946, the senior lieutenant Nikolai Kulikov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
In 1948, with the rank of captain, Kulikov was transferred to the reserve. First he lived in Dmitrov, Moscow region , later moved to the Kustanai region of the Kazakh SSR , worked as a tractor driver at a state farm . He died on August 17, 1972 [1] .
Rewards
He was also awarded two orders of the Red Banner , orders of Alexander Nevsky and World War 1 degree, two orders of the Red Star , a number of medals [1] .
