Content
History
The university was founded in 1860 as the Lady Byron School , which was later re-named at Ealing College of Higher Education. In 1990 a number of educational institutions: Ealing College of Higher Education, Thames Valley College of Higher Education, Queen Charlotte College of Health Care Studies and the world-famous London College of Music made a joint decision to unite and the university became known as Thames Valley University. In 2004, they also joined Reading College and the School of Arts and Design.
On August 1, 2010, a new rector Lawrence Geller was appointed, who immediately began to reform and restructure, in particular, they were asked to rename the university and reduce the number of subjects taught. This action was primarily associated with the closure of one of the university branches in the city of Slough in early 2010, as well as with the desire of the new rector to concentrate on the development of the London campuses in Ealing and Brentford. In August 2010, after numerous debates, the UK Government approved a new university reform program. [2] It took less than a year to resolve bureaucratic issues and on April 6, 2011 the university was officially renamed the University of West London (University of West London). [3]

In 2010, according to the official rating of the best universities in the UK - The Guardian university guide , [4] The University of West London was ranked 69 out of 124.
In 2012, according to the authoritative newspaper The Guardian, the University of West London was recognized as the most modern university in London (Best Modern University in London). [five]
In the official ranking published by The Times Higher Education in July 2014, the university took the first place in the nomination "Guaranteed Employment of Graduates" in comparison with other universities in the UK. Thus, more than 95% of graduates were able to find a job in the field of interest to them in the industry within six months after graduation .
In 2016, the University of West London conducted another large-scale modernization of its campuses. Thanks to the persistent work of the teaching staff, outstanding achievements of graduates and the constant desire to improve the quality of life of students, the University took 84th place out of 127 in the ranking of The Times Higher Education 2017. In 2017, the University of West London ranked 79 out of 127 in the INDEPENDENT Complete University Guide rankings.
