Biography
Ivan Kuleshov was born on March 30, 1922 in the village of Andreevo (now - Demidov district, Smolensk region ). After completing seven classes of school and teacher courses in Vyazma, he worked as a teacher in secondary school. In 1940 he was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army , in 1941 he graduated from the military-political courses. From February 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War [1] .
By October 1943, Captain Ivan Kuleshov temporarily served as commander of a rifle battalion of the 120th rifle regiment of the 69th rifle division of the 65th Army of the Central Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper . On October 15, 1943, the Kuleshov battalion crossed the Dnieper near the village of Loyev in the Loev district of the Gomel region of the Byelorussian SSR and took an active part in the battles for the seizure and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore. The enemy launched several counterattacks against the battalion, but all of them were successfully repulsed. In those battles, the battalion destroyed about 300 soldiers and officers of the enemy, took several more prisoners, captured 20 machine guns [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 30, 1943, Captain Ivan Kuleshov was given the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal " No. 1582 [1] .
After the war, Kuleshov continued service in the Soviet Army. In 1947 he graduated from the Frunze Military Academy . From 1958 he lived in Baku , was a senior lecturer in tactics at the Baku Higher Combined-Arms Command School. Suddenly died on June 19, 1964 [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree and two Orders of the Red Star , along with a number of medals [1] .
