History
The Legal Journal was published in St. Petersburg every month from September 1860 to 1861 . A total of nine issues were issued.
The journal was published by the writer P. A. Salmanov (1817-1882).
The magazine aimed at disseminating legal information among non-specialist readers.
It contained articles on the theory and history of Russian law, legal proceedings, reports on the most high-profile Russian and especially foreign lawsuits, as well as stories, the plots of which were based on court cases.
The publication adhered to a conservative trend. He defended publicity and improved legislation in order to facilitate the fight against "revolutionary trends." The magazine opposed the revolutionary methods of struggle to the development of enlightenment and "moral improvement."
The Legal Gazette was attended by I. A. Arsenyev , S. I. Barshev , K. D. Cavelin , P. D. Kolosovsky , A. P. Chebyshev-Dmitriev , I. N. Shill and others.
