History

The first name (Nativity of Christ) was given to the former nunnery of the Nativity Monastery (closed in 1776) from the wooden church of the Nativity of Christ that existed here. In 1810, the stone Nikolskaya church was erected in its place [1] .

In the 1860s, it became known as Bochanovsky, after the name of the local landlord. In 1900, at the request of residents, the street was renamed Nikolskaya.

Until 1917, various small industries worked on the street.

It got its modern name on June 25, 1929.

Cases

One of the workers in Esaulov’s forge, on Nikolskaya Street, invented a very original and stupid way to entertain his own person: he sprinkles soot on schoolchildren passing by the forge or scoffs at them, in general, as they say, “does not allow passage”. It would not hurt to diminish him.
