Two foreigners come to Mumi Dol - Tofsla and Vifsla, who everywhere carry their suitcases with them. Their peculiarity was that they often added the syllable “sla” to the words. At this time, each of the Moomin family goes about their business: Moomin and Snusmumrik play a ball, Sniff sits on a tree and eats the berries that grow on it, Moomin mom prepares dinner, Muskrat snores with his book “On vanity” all things, ”and Mumi-dad watered a flower bed. Foreigners come to the door of the house, think of knocking and asking for food, but when Mummy-mom opens the door and calls everyone to dinner, they hide in fright in a potato warehouse in fear. Hemul takes two glasses of milk and lures them out.

Then Tofslu and Vifslu are dressed up in clean clothes, and two cheerful foreigners begin to explore the surroundings of Mumi Dol. When Hemul tried to catch a butterfly, he notices that Tofsla and Vifsla flee in fear from a nearby forest, calling for help. It turns out that they fled from a certain "terrible and terrible Morra." Although the Moomins did not know who Morra was, they decided to barricade the door. After everyone went to bed, the Moomin in bed told Snusmumrik a story about a wizard who collected rubies and immediately threw away because he wanted to find one special ruby ​​- the “Royal”, the most beautiful in the world. The wizard searched all the planets, but did not find him. Suddenly, the alarm set by them went off: Morra was able to open the door, despite the barricade, but without looking at everyone, she left.

The next morning, a newspaper arrives in the mail in which Tofslu and Bethslau are suspected of theft. The residents of the Moomin house decide to arrange a trial over them, in which the Moomin played the role of judge, Sniff - the prosecutor, and Hemul - the lawyer. It turns out that in the suitcase of Tofsla and Bethsla is a mysterious item that they stole from Morra. Morra herself appears unexpectedly, but the Moomins offer her to exchange the stolen item for something else. The muskrat offers to give her a magic hat, which was stored in a warehouse as unnecessary. Morra agrees and picks up his hat, and the happy residents of Mumi Dol continue to do their own thing. And in the suitcase of Tofsla and Bethsla, of course, the Royal ruby ​​was discovered.
