History

The history of the club began in the spring of 1959, when a tournament in class B took place in Tallinn as part of the 13th championship of the USSR . At the Tallinn Excavation Plant , the idea arose of creating its own hockey club. The club, called "Excavator", was created the following year at the initiative of Uno Veski ( Est. Uno Veski ), who became the head and coach of the team. The first players in the club were factory workers [1] .

Soon, achievements at the republican level followed: in 1962 the team became a silver medalist, and in 1963 won the first gold medal for itself in the championship of the republic . Since then, the team constantly took places in the top three republican championships. The next gold medal was won in 1966, then in 1978 and 1981 [4] . The Tallex team (Excavator) regularly participated in tournaments of the second and first league of the USSR championships.

In the summer, the team lacked a place for training, and the company went to meet it. On the initiative of the director of the factory E. Innos (who served as chairman of the Estonian Hockey Federation ), commercial director of the factory Calo Lauri ( Est. Kaljo Lauri , simultaneously chairman of the Presidium of the Republican Figure Skating Federation) and Uno Veski, was built on the territory of the factory (from the Paldiski Highway ) artificial ice stadium , operating seven months a year. The opening of the stadium took place on November 17, 1967. The stadium was used by both the factory team and other city hockey teams. In addition, training and figure skating competitions were held at the stadium, novice athletes and amateurs also trained at it. The enterprise team organized personal tournaments at the stadium, in which teams from different cities and republics of the USSR participated: from Moscow , Leningrad , Kiev [1] .

Recent years

The last achievement of the team was the silver medal of the Republican Championship in 1990. Tallex Production Association ceased to exist after privatization in 1992, and the Tallex hockey club disappeared with it. The ice stadium was leased, and in the early 2000s it was closed and demolished. As of the beginning of the 2010s, an automobile center is located in its place [1] .
