Martinique Botrops [1] ( lat. Bothrops lanceolatus ) is a species of pit viper of the genus Botrops . Endemic of the island of Martinique .

Description
The total length reaches 2 m. The head is small, elongated with a pointed rostral scutellum. The body is slim, strong.
Coloring varies even in cubs of the same masonry. The main, more or less bright yellow-brown color turns into brown, gray-brown and black. The pattern consists of a black strip that stretches from the eyes to the back of the head, and two rows of irregular, light, sometimes tiger transverse spots along the back. The black bar is sometimes absent. In some individuals, the sides are painted red. The belly has no spots.
Lifestyle
Prefers forests, plantations. Active at night. Spends most of the time on the trees. It feeds on birds and rodents.
This is an ovoviviparous snake.
The poison is dangerous to human life, many cases of death from the bite of this snake are known.
