Geography
The village is located on the banks of the Kotelok [2] stream or the Trosnovka river. [3]
History
According to the Lists of the populated places of the Russian Empire in 1872, the village belonged to the 1st camp of the Galich district of the Kostroma province , and, together with the villages of Trosnovo, Maloye Mitino , Parfenovo , Pavlovo , the villages of Bizyaevo and Novinskoe, had the common name Uglets . In the village of Valovo there were 13 yards , 38 men and 34 women lived. [3]
According to the 1897 census , 95 people lived in the village (41 men and 54 women). [2]
According to the List of populated areas of the Kostroma province in 1907, the village belonged to the Kotelsky volost of the Galich district of the Kostroma province . According to the volost government, in 1907 there were 23 peasant households and 130 inhabitants. The main occupations of the villagers, in addition to agriculture, were carpentry and agricultural work. [2]
Before the municipal reform of 2010, the village was also part of the Orekhovsky rural settlement. [4] [5]
