Narino ( Spanish Nariño ) is a city and municipality in the north of Colombia , in the territory of the department of Antioquia . Part of the Eastern Antioquia subregion .

Content
History
The settlement from which the city later grew was founded on April 23, 1827 . The municipality of Narino was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1913 .
Geographical position
The city is located in the southeastern part of the department, in the mountainous terrain of the Central Cordillera , approximately 77 kilometers south-southeast (SSE) from Medellin , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 1465 meters above sea level [1] .
The municipality of Marinilla is bordered in the north by the municipality of Arhelia , in the north-west and in the west by the municipality of Sonsson , in the south-west, south and east by the territory of the department of Caldas . The area of the municipality is 313 km ² [2] .
Population
According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, the total population of the city and municipality in 2012 was 16,730 [3] . The dynamics of the population of the municipality by year:

According to the 2005 census, men made up 51.5% of the population of Nariño, women - respectively 48.5%. Racially whites and mestizos accounted for 99.3% of the city’s population; Negroes , mulattos and Raisalets - 0.6%, Indians - 0.1% [4] . The literacy rate of the entire population was 82.6%.
Economy
The basis of the economy Nariño is agricultural production . Sugar cane , coffee , bananas and yucca are grown in the municipality. Livestock is developed.
41.4% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are enterprises of the trade sector, 32.1% are industrial enterprises, 26.2% are service enterprises, 0.3% are enterprises of other sectors of the economy [4] .
