His father was the consul of 11 years Titus Statilius Taurus , and the mother of Valery Messalin. In 44, Titus held the post of ordinary consul along with Guy Sallustius Crispus Passien . In 52-53, Taurus was the proconsul of the province of Africa.
Upon returning from the province, he was accused by his former legate, who served under his command in Africa, Tarquitius Priscus of extortion and relations with magicians, which, apparently, was slander. Priscus acted at the request of Agrippina the Younger , the wife of the emperor Claudius, who wanted to appropriate the gardens of the Taurus. Without waiting for the verdict of the Senate, Taurus committed suicide. However, Priscus was expelled from the Senate.
The daughter of Taurus was the wife of Emperor Nero Statilia Messalin .
